Wool vs. Cotton

Do I have to use wool? Heather how are you managing to use wool with your skin irritations?

I can't keep wool and angora on... Do any of you think using a cotton worsted weight would have any issue with the pattern?

I doubt using cotton would affect the pattern too much.

But, I don't know for sure.

Cotton is a lot heavier than wool, and not as stretchy. Plus every time I've knitted with cotton I've started cussing like a sailor because my hands hurt so much. Have you tried Alpaca? It's a lot less irritating than wool and really soft.

Wool actually doesn't bother me that much if it's soft enough.

Oh yeah another thing you could try is a blend, like wool/silk or wool/pima cotton, those usually aren't as irritating

I'm thinking of trying wool/silk myself. If my budget can handle it.

Wool/silk does tend to break easily, but if it's got enough wool (like 60%/40%), you can do the spit method and work it back together.

I love wool/silk blends so much. They're soft, airy, but still warm.

Any idea how Rowan calmer would work with this? I've got a frogload and would love to put it to some good use.
